Marc Hoag

Marc lives by a deceptively simple philosophy: "One does not necessarily need to like a thing in order to agree with a thing."

It is this philosophy that compelled Marc to launch The Marc Hoag Law Firm in 2022 after his passions brought him full circle back to the full-time practice of law. Picking up where he left off shortly after law school, Marc is adding to his repertoire of expertise his unrivaled knowledge in the field of autonomous vehicle law, complementing his work in landlord-tenant, personal injury, California lemon law, matters of tech startup law, and his deep passion on all things climate and clean energy.

Marc is a serial entrepreneur with one venture-backed startup behind him; a California-licensed attorney; and he founded Motiv Mobility (formerly Hoag+Co LLC), a global autonomous vehicles and urban mobility strategy consulting firm.

Marc also sits on the advisory board of Qibus, a plug-and-play teleoperation startup for driverless cars; and he’s the Boston Chapter Director and Mobility Initiative Chair of Founders Network.

After a predominantly engineering-track course load spanning nearly four years of advanced math, physics, chemistry, and biology, Marc graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in Economics before attending law school in San Diego and passing, on his first attempt, the July 2008 California bar exam.

A lifelong automotive enthusiast, Marc is passionate about all things climate science and renewable energy, and the intersection of technology, law, policy, and the societal impacts of this new era of autonomous vehicles, what he calls “the greatest step change in humanity since the Industrial Revolution.”
